Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60v3/v5 ver 5.00.50 released

New release by Garmin on their Mobile XT product ver 5.00.50. Since I had hang issue with ver 5.00.40, I decide to downgrade my 5800 XM to 5.00.30. I heard from some of the user for ver 5.00.50 are very satisfied with the new Garmin released. Less hang and faster responds...I'm download the new version as we speak...Well, downloading finish..and I really notice the fast responds with every button we press..or is it me?..You guys decide..:)

You can download the new version 5.00.50 here..


For new users, you have to install Garmin Mobile XT Support Files to get the voice support. Do remember that Garmin is a paid application.! Will comment on how's the performance once I get it on my 5800 XM

Changes made from version 5.00.40 to 5.00.50:

• Provide 'Exit' option to the Activate Software page.
• Correct the turn preview page in landscape orientation.
• Correct an error that occurs when the 'Arrival' button is selected.
• Correct the text color of the main map page when displayed in night mode.

Easiest way to install

1. Download the installer here.
2. Extract the installer using WinRar or WinZip.
3. Copy GMobileCard contect at the root of your memory card.
4. Simply tap the GarminMobileXT.sis to install. It will show if you want to upgrade the version
5. After that, your Garmin Mobile XT ver 5.00.50 is ready to be used!

1. Download MFM-CPOI. Double-click on the downloaded file to start running it.
2. After the license page, select the folder of your Nuvi drive or external storage card containing Mobile XT. Ensure your path is :\Garmin\POI.
3. At the Select Component page, select "Nuvi 200/205 series (WAV audio)" if you have a Garmin Nuvi 200 or 205 GPS. Select Other Garmin models (MP3 audio)" if your Garmin device can support MP3.Select "Other MobileXT (no audio)" if you are using MobileXT or you prefer not to have any audio prompt.
4. Check on the Custom POI set you wish to upload to your device
5. Click to start file copy
6. To check if your installation is successful, switch on your Garmin device. Press "Where to?", then the down arrow, then "Extras". Press "Custom POIs".

Garmin 5.00.3 vs 5.00.4

Well, last time I said that I want to try installing Garmin 5.00.4..since I used the it, it really make my phone unstable, and the Garmin really lags when I want to change the setting or to detect GPS signal. Garmin 5.00.4 will exit out when I change to lanscape mode..

So my advise, stick with your Garmin 5.00.3 as I just downgraded mind..

Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 software version 5.00.40

I decided to install Garmin Mobile XT version 5.00.40 on my 5800 XM since the installer already available on Garmin webpage..Get the installer here

Will update how's the performance difference (I doubt any different), after I fully utilize it..:)..

Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd Edition software version 5.00.40

One of my friend at work asking me about Garmin Mobile XT upgrade where he have it on this N82. Now I'm using version 5.00.30 and it works find. After searching on Garmin webpage, I just notice only a slight update for version 5.00.40. So to my opinion, not worth it to update yet until the next release, or major update. For 5800 XM users, we dont need photo viewer. So why bother to update.

Changes made from version 5.00.30 to 5.00.40:

• Provide location format selection for coordinates.
• Correct picture viewer to show multiple photos in Travel Guide.

Garmin on Nokia 5800 XM

Just got my Nokia 5800XM a couple month ago, and now I'm downloading S60v5 apps like crazy. First time I bought this phone(Feb28th 09), people had bad comment about it at GSM Arena. Most of the people commented probably never even buy this phone. So far, this phone rocks and better still ..more and more apps been developed for Symbian 60 V5.

My first software installed on my 5800XM is Garmin Mobile XT. You can google Garmin XT for 5800, and it works like a charm!.. I never get lost again..!!
For Malaysian and Singaporean, you can always update your maps by becoming a member of www.malfreemaps.com. The map's developers are very genius team and making navigation using your 5800 XM without any hassle. With lots of POI (Point of Interest), you can even get night market map and which day it's operate!!!...





Current version for Garmin Mobile XT is 5.00.4..but mind is 5.00.3 since I heard more problem on 5.00.4..So I suggest to stick with 5.00.3.

To anyone planning to buy this phone, please do. You will not regret. Make sure the phone you buy come with upgraded software v20 as it's a major firmware upgrade by Nokia where it support secondary camera photo-taking, geo-tagging, more responsive touch screen and much more. The downside of it just it eat's up a little chunk of your RAM.

So happy buying for anyone interested with Nokia 5800 XM
