New firmware for Nokia 5800 available as FOTA update

Nokia 5800 Just want to give everyone a quick heads up that latest firmware update (v50.0.005) for company’s bestselling fulltouch screen Smartphone is now regularly available for most of the generic Euro codes as 'Over The Air' update and as usually, it should be progressively available at the Nokia service points and available through the NSU as well.

The new firmware is meant to provide further performance improvements and new functionalities to the handset, and it is already available for most of the generic European and Asian product codes.

There is no detailed change log at the moment and I can't see any noticeable changes or improvements but as you would imagine, the firmware update is always recommended as it usually brings improvements in performance and optimizes the functionality of the phone across many applications.

Nokia 5800 has the UDP but it is anyway highly suggestible to back up your phone memory before performing a firmware update just as precaution measure in case something goes wrong.
It seems that firmware still isn't widely available so please report if it is available for your product code especially if you notice any major changes over at our forum section.

As with all software releases, note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved this release. Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible.

Firmware update v40.0.005 is here!! With Kinetic Scrolling!

This v40.0.005 was a long waited firmware since the release of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, however the v.40 was actually leaked and was still under major bugs on October 2009, also planned to be released on December 2009. The Finnish mobile phone maker released new version v40.0.005 can be easily downloaded from Nokia Software Update feature. It is advised to backup all your data before updating your device. The complete changelog is not yet available, but the much awaited kinetic scrolling has been confirmed by the users. The update comes with kinetic scrolling and new home screen similar to Nokia 5530’s home screen. Some users have even claimed that the kinetic scrolling is smoother and much better than Nokia N97. This update is not available in all the regions. You may have to wait some days or weeks before it is available in your region. However, the mission was postponed due to other related issues such as camera malfunction occurs. But on this day 13th January 2010, Nokia's view on the millions of 5800XM users, promising KS and new HS came true !
